Wisconsin does Halloween right. From 45 acre outdoor scream parks to a genuine 1930s asylum, the state packs an incredible amount of fear into about six weeks every fall. Last year we mapped out the best haunted houses in Wisconsin, and the 2026 season is shaping up to be just as strong, with a few big changes worth knowing about before you plan your road trip.
Here is your guide to the haunted attractions running across Wisconsin this Halloween season, organized by how you like your scares.
Dates listed below were confirmed from official attraction websites and the Haunted Wisconsin event directory as of late August 2026. Haunts sometimes add or drop nights, so always check the attraction website before you drive.
The Big Scream Parks
These are the marquee attractions, the ones people plan whole weekends around. Expect multiple haunts on one ticket, long seasons, and sellouts on the weekends closest to Halloween.
Green Bay | Select nights, September 19 through November 1
The Green Bay institution on the grounds of the National Railroad Museum is going big this year. The 2026 lineup features Jason Universe: Survive the Night, an officially licensed Friday the 13th walkthrough, alongside Myths and Legends, set inside the decaying Blackthorn Hollow manor. New for 2026 is the Director’s Cut VIP experience, where your group chooses how Jason attacks next. There is also a 21 and over speakeasy called The Dutchman’s Hideaway and a Respawn Pass if one trip through is not enough. Note that the event may be too intense for children 12 and under.
Green Bay Fear: The Timore Carnival
Green Bay | September 18 through November 7
Now in its 23rd season, Green Bay Fear introduces a new icon this year. Dr. Kransberg unleashes an army of mutants and monsters across the attraction. One of the longest operating seasons in the state, which makes it easier to fit into a schedule than the weekend only haunts.
Franklin | Friday and Saturday nights in October
Forty five acres of outdoor terror at Ballpark Commons in the Milwaukee area. One ticket gets you through four attractions: Failed Escape, Hunger Hollow, CARNIvore, and Dead End. Between haunts, the Party Pit has bonfires, live music, food and a beer tent. Gates open at 6:00 pm and sellouts are common, so buy online. A VIP Speed Pass is available if you would rather not wait in line at each attraction.
Sheboygan Falls | September 19 through November 7, select nights
This one is the real thing. The haunt takes place inside the former Sheboygan County Hospital for the Insane, a working institution from 1939 until 2002. The 2026 season includes a Clown Takeover weekend on October 9, 10 and 11 where every scare actor is a clown, plus celebrity guest appearances from Mark Steger, the original Demogorgon from Stranger Things, Kathryn Long from Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask, Paul Haley from Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and Jeff Brockton from Scream 3. VIP behind the scenes tours are available and tend to sell out.
Little Suamico | September 25 through October 31
An immersive scream park north of Green Bay built around Delirium, a sprawling haunted mansion paired with a forest trail. A strong pick if you want a full scream park experience without driving all the way to the southeast corner of the state.
Classic Haunted Houses
Built by hand, staffed by volunteers and locals, and updated room by room every single year. These are the haunts with history.
Sheboygan | 2026 dates to be announced
Wisconsin’s longest operating haunted house, founded in 1974 and run by the Sheboygan Jaycees. The crew designs, builds, uses and tears down more than 20 rooms every season, with all profits going to local charities. Fifty plus years of practice shows in the detail. Dates for 2026 had not yet been posted as of late August, so watch their site and Facebook page.
Fort Atkinson | October 2 through October 31
Jefferson County’s haunt has moved into a new permanent location, which usually means bigger sets and better flow. Worth a look if you are between Madison and Milwaukee.
Sparta | October 2 through October 30
A fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Sparta staged inside a reportedly haunted former infirmary of the Wisconsin State Child Center. They also run Not So Scary times, which makes this one of the better options in western Wisconsin for families with younger kids.
Muskego | October 3 through October 31
An award winning home haunt that punches well above its weight. For 2026 the Manor returns with new environments and a longer run than most home haunts attempt. Proof that you do not need a corporate budget to genuinely scare people.
Haunted Trails, Woods and Corn Mazes
Outdoor haunts hit different. Uneven ground, real darkness, and nowhere to run.
Franklin | October 2 through October 31
More than 65 acres of wooded trail in the Milwaukee area. A long season and a big footprint make this a solid pairing with other southeast Wisconsin haunts on the same weekend.
Wautoma | October 2 through October 31
A self guided walk through the dark in central Wisconsin. Because you set your own pace, the dread builds differently than it does in a conveyor belt haunted house.
Peshtigo | October 17 through October 24
A haunted corn maze paired with a haunted hayride at Bergeson Farms. A short window, so plan ahead if you are in the northeast part of the state.
Helenville | October 23 and October 24
Twelve acres of corn and woods, mostly unlit. Bring a flashlight or rent one at the gate. Two nights only.
Forestville | October 30
One dark night in the corn in Door County. Tall stalks, wind, and things moving that should not be moving.
Dan Patch Stables Haunted Hayride
Lake Geneva | October 2 through October 31
The hayride has moved to a new location for 2026 and is running without the haunted barn this season. Still a great low key option for a group that wants atmosphere over aggressive scares.
One Night and Limited Run Haunts
These sell out. Put them on the calendar now.
Delafield | October 23 and October 24 only
Two nights a year, the moonlit trails of Lapham Peak State Park fill with live scare scenes. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Lapham Peak. A beloved southeast Wisconsin tradition that regularly sells out, so buy early.
The Dark Side at The House on the Rock
Spring Green | October 3 through October 30
The House on the Rock is unsettling in broad daylight. After dark, the dolls, the carousel and the endless collections become something else entirely. This is atmosphere over jump scares, and it is unforgettable.
Baldwin | October 10 through October 30
Celebrating 30 years in 2026. A western Wisconsin favorite that leans into imagination and craft rather than gore, which makes it an easier sell for mixed groups.
Black River Falls | October 24 only
One night, one trail, with twisted clowns and haunted scenes throughout. A Kid Friendly Zone is available for families who want the fun without the full terror.
Old Falls Village Park Halloween Spooky Walk
Menomonee Falls | October 23, 24 and 30
A longer trail and new scares for the third annual event, recommended for ages 7 and up.
Not So Scary: Family Friendly Halloween
Not everyone wants a chainsaw. These events deliver the season without the nightmares.
Halloween Legends and Lore at Old World Wisconsin
Eagle | October 9 through October 24
Supernatural tales from cultures around the world brought to life across a historic site. Genuinely educational and genuinely fun, which is a rare combination.
The Hollows at Phantom Lake YMCA
Mukwonago | October 2 through October 25
Three thousand hand carved jack o lanterns lighting wooded trails and lakeshore, with fairy lands, Viking ships, mermaids and wizards along the way. A portion of proceeds supports camp programs.
Jack O’ Lantern Nights at the Racine Zoo
Racine | October 1 through October 31
A paved, fully accessible path through the zoo lined with lights and Halloween decor. Easy with strollers and a great first Halloween outing for little ones.
Halloween Haunts at Wehr Nature Center
Franklin | October 15 through October 17
Now in its 38th year. The woodland becomes an Enchanted Forest for three nights, blending make believe with nighttime nature.
Happily Haunted at Bookworm Gardens
Sheboygan | October 9 through October 25
Glowing lights and gentle Halloween fun through storybook gardens at dusk. Built specifically for the young and the young at heart.
Racine | October 24
Daytime, outdoor trick or treating with the animals, plus cookie decorating, crafts and creepy crawly animal ambassadors.
Halloween in Wisconsin Dells
If you are building a Halloween weekend around the Dells, you do not have to leave town to find the season.
Wisconsin Dells | Running through October 31
Cold Water Canyon was abandoned in 1950 and no reason was ever given. There were rumors of strange lights, odd sounds and missing passengers. The Ghost Boat takes you back into the canyon after dark to find out why.

The darker side of the Dells, told on a trolley. Real local history that turns out to be stranger than the fiction.
How to Pick the Right Haunt
- Start with drive time. Wisconsin is a big state. Green Bay to Kenosha is a three hour haul. Pick a region and stack two or three haunts into one night.
- Match the scare level to your group. Actor driven indoor haunts like Sheboygan Haunted Asylum and Terror on the Fox hit much harder than a jack o lantern walk. If anyone in the group is on the fence, start with a Not So Scary or daytime event.
- Buy online, buy early. The weekends of October 17 and October 24 are the busiest of the season at almost every haunt in the state. Several attractions now sell online only with no box office.
- Dress for the woods. Outdoor haunts mean mud, roots and cold. Closed toe shoes you can run in are not optional.
- Check the site the day you go. Weather cancellations happen, and haunts occasionally add or pull nights late in the season.
A Few Notes on What Changed This Year
A couple of names from previous seasons are not on the 2026 calendar yet. Wisconsin Fear Fest at Road America in Plymouth has not announced a 2026 season. Spooks on Spurr in New London and Soul Reapers at the Kenosha County Fairgrounds had not posted 2026 dates as of late August. If those are on your list, check their pages directly before making the drive.

Make It a Full Halloween Weekend
Haunted houses are a late night activity. What do you do with the rest of the evening?
The Monster Mash Spooktacular at Dells Dinner Adventures is the largest Halloween show in Wisconsin, and it runs September through October 31 in Wisconsin Dells. It is a Broadway style variety spectacular where Frankenstein, Dracula, the Sanderson Sisters and the rest of the greatest icons of fright take the stage in a talent show for the undead, and the audience decides the winner. Expect high energy dancing, powerhouse singing, magic, comedy, lasers and fog, plus a full three course dinner included with every ticket.
It is family friendly, it is indoors, and it is the perfect way to open a Halloween weekend before the group heads out for something scarier.
